CASTLEPALOOZA Of all the festival settings in Ireland, Tullamore's Charleville Castle has to be the most enchanting, not least because Castle Palooza actually affords festival goers the opportunity to set foot inside the 17th century castle to see its beautifully restored rooms and sit in front of its roaring fires. There's a hint of luxury to the whole thing, with the festival's Day Spa adding to it in abundance. Meanwhile, art exhibitions, a fortune teller, masseuse, games, cocktail bar, comedy club and burlesque shows make for much glamour and theatricality. With tickets limited to 3000, CastlePalooza's intimate setting is bound to make for an enjoyable weekend, particularly when there's fantastic music from the likes of Django Django, Naughty By Nature and Hudson Mohawke on offer this August Bank Holiday.

Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival

Friday 5th of August 2011 will see the Georgian Heritage town of Birr turning back time as the 43rd Annual Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival, one of the longest running and most successful Festivals in the country, begins. Running from the 5th until the 12th, its all-inclusive programme of entertainment appeals to a wide audience with its dynamic rang of vintage and modern events.

Featuring a spectacular Opening Parade, arts exhibitions, an Olde Time Fair, lunch time theatre performances, free children’s events, a Busking Competition, candlelit nights, Donkey Derby, nightly entertainment in local pubs, a wide range of sporting and musical events, a Fireworks Display and much, much more there is guaranteed entertainment for all ages!

Over the past 42 years, the people of Birr have embraced this event with evergrowing enthusiasm, which has made the Festival one of the biggest and best in the country
